All Rivers Lead to the Ocean
Access to a clean, adequate water supply is essential for both fish and people.
The 2013 Waters to Watch list highlights streams, rivers and shorelines where habitat is being protected and restored. Shoreline restoration, efforts to remove structures that block fish movements and efforts to protect riparian areas from industrial pollutants, livestock or agriculture are some of the actions being undertaken by community groups, Native peoples and governments. There are many Fish Habitat Partnerships across North America, including the Salmon Habitat Restoration program in British Columbia or the Canada-wide Storm Drain Marking Program.
