Motivated by real environmental concern?

CBC News recently announced that the British Columbia government opposes Enbridge's proposed Northern Gateway Pipeline project. CBC is asking readers what they think of the B.C. government's official stand. Is it motivated by real environmental concern, by a desire to generate more revenue from the pipeline project or is it a sign that Enbrdige's job is far from over? Perhaps you think it will make no difference.

The B.C. government's 5 conditions:
  • Environmental review needs to be passed.
  • World-leading marine oil spill prevention, response.
  • World-leading practices for land oil spill prevention, response.
  • First Nations opportunities, treaty rights respected.
  • Fair share of the fiscal and economic benefits for B.C.
